Double v triple

Double Vs Triple Glazing

When looking for new windows and doors, many people are presented with the problem of picking triple or double glazing. If you aren’t an expert on windows, it is very difficult to know what the differences are or even if the additional layer of glass really makes that much of a difference.

NorDan double glazed window and door products offer U Value 1.2W/m2K and 37dB sound reduction as standard performance with a centre pane Glass U value of 1.0W/m2K. Current building regulations state minimum performance of 1.6W/m2K meaning that our double glazing is extremely high performing.

Even then, you may still be wondering about triple glazing and one reason for deciding on triple may be the overall SAP calculation on a new build or perhaps an extension may need windows and doors to be to a certain standard. However, NorDan are passionate about ensuring these specifications are met through the most cost effective solution as opposed to offering a product with performance specification of 0.9W/m2K at higher value when there is no long-term benefit for the customer and the additional cost for this upgrade can be put to good use on other parts of the build.

What are the benefits of upgrading to Triple Glazing?

Upgrading to a triple glazed window or door can have its benefits when used in the correct specification. For instance, when building a thermally efficient property with a thermally broken frame and triple glazed unit can offer a U value as low as 0.7W/m2K. Additionally, acoustic properties can be improved to approx. 41dB.

NorDan are the market leaders in the UK offering premium timber window and door product solutions at competitive rates. When customers are given the correct information, the decision should be very straightforward as our standard range offers incredible value for money, fantastic thermal efficiency and even an entire sixty-year lifespan.
