Kirsty Gilmour makes a great start at Commonwealth Games!
We’re thrilled that NorDan Sponsored Athlete, Kirsty Gilmour, has made a fantastic start in the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the Gold Coast!
Gilmour is currently seeded fourth for the women’s singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games as she looks to better her silver medal from 2014.
The 24-year-old is seeded behind PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and 2014 gold medallist Michelle Li.
Kirsty said:
“I’m really happy to be seeded in the top four, it puts me in a strong position.”
“Saying that, nothing is guaranteed and I’m well aware of the strength of the tournament.”
Her first games were yesterday in the team event where she played 3 games in total; 1 in the first team match against Pakistan and 2 in the second team match against Sri Lanka.
In the first games vs Pakistan, Kirsty played a singles match and won 2 – 0. In the second games vs Sri Lanka she played a singles match and won 2 – 0. She also played a doubles match and won 2 -1.
We caught up with Kirsty before she headed off to the Gold Coast and she shared with us her goals for this year’s Commonwealth Games!
