Mount Pleasant, London
Nordan is pleased to be working on the redevelopment of the old Royal Mail sorting office at Mount Pleasant in Farringdon, London.
In 2017, Taylor Wimpey purchased 6.5-acres of land at the Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant office site in Central London, in a deal worth nearly £194m. Contractors Bouygues have now started work on the first phase of the project, which is a 214-apartment complex called West Central 1 (WC1).
Nordan is delighted to be working alongside Bouygues, to supply 1 handled tilt and turn, fixed light windows, inward opening single doors, and sliding patio doors.
West Central 1 will deliver 681 homes and the building itself ranges in height from six to 15 storeys. The scheme has been designed to reach a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The second phase is called EC1, reflecting that the development straddles two London postcodes.
The exterior development will combine resident and public spaces, including a courtyard, a shaded terrace, as well as shops and open landscaped spaces.
The project is hoped to create more housing, including affordable units, as well as community facilities and more public space.
Work is expected to be complete by 2021.
