Refurbishment Projects with NorDan - Glen Oaks Window Replacement Programme

NorDan’s refurbishment portfolio has been further enhanced by this maintenance contract for the south side of Glasgow that involved fitting new NorDan windows across almost 480 properties.

Refurbishment in the construction industry is an ever-present aspect of many ongoing building projects today. As the government has a manifesto to improve the quality of housing, and we see more housing authorities being given funding to improve their affordable housing offering, refurbishment is an ideal and more cost effective alternative to investing in the construction of completely new dwellings.

In 2018, NorDan was contracted for the ambitious window replacement programme, being carried out by CCG Asset Management, on behalf of Glen Oaks Housing Association in Glasgow. The maintenance works have recently completed with the final window replacements having been installed at the end of 2019.

Glen Oaks Housing Association operates across the south west of Glasgow managing over 1200 properties, including an eight-person care home. Their window replacement scheme was intended to improve insulation and reduce unwanted noise for residents in almost 480 properties.

NorDan successfully won the supply contract for the project, providing a range of triple-glazed alu-clad windows, which were installed in multiple phases across the duration of the programme. As thermal efficiency and noise reduction was a top priority for Glen Oaks Housing Association, NorDan’s high U-value windows were the perfect solution for this specific refurb project.

However, what makes NorDan windows and doors ideal for any type of refurbishment project - big and small alike - is the fact that the maintenance requirements for our products is very minimal. This means that after the windows are fitted, residents or maintenance teams are not required to spend any unnecessary time having touch up or repair the windows. In addition to this, a wide selection of our window and door range has Secured By Design Accreditation, which will offer residents the peace of mind that their family and belongings will be safe against break-in attempts.

Speaking to Scottish Housing News, Glen Oaks chief executive, Alasdair McKee, said:

“We are delighted to be working with CCG Asset Management again to complete this important project for the Association. The fitting of new triple-glazed windows and balcony doors will greatly enhance both the sound and heat insulation in residents’ homes.

This is the biggest major improvement project that the Association has undertaken in recent years and it is great to see the positive impact it is having, both in terms of the quality of the work and the boost in opportunities it is bringing to the local area.”

The team at NorDan is proud to have worked on this extensive programme and we are always thrilled to see considerate investment and improvement happening to the housing stock throughout the UK.
