A Legacy of Innovation & Quality Since 1926
For nearly a century, NorDan has been at the forefront of window and door innovation, combining Scandinavian craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
Burnet Point is a combined residential development in Edinburgh, it is the first project that Unite Students have done that covers purpose-built student accommodation, Build-to-rent, and affordable housing.
The £59 million project comprises of 298 student bedrooms which are a mix of cluster and studio flats and 66 one, two, and three bedroom Build-to-rent flats, including 20% affordable housing provision operated by Hillcrest Homes. Initially designed by AMA & CDA, the development was subsequently delivered by AMA & HCD.
Acoustics and ventilation were a top priority for Burnet Point, due to the development being located within close proximity to Waverley train line. By choosing NorDan, the client could be confident in knowing our windows could withhold up to 130kg per sash to cope with the onerous acoustic glazing they needed.
As Burnet Point aims to become Unite Students lowest carbon new-build property to date in their portfolio, selecting NorDan’s N-Tech Fixed Frame and StormGuard could contribute towards meeting that goal.
With NorDan’s window’s being made from aluminium-clad-timber, they provide an expected lifespan of over 60 years, choosing NorDan gives this development the kind of long-term durability essential for a project of this scale.
The aluminium clad timber design not only offers durability but also timber is a lifetime carbon-neutral material, making it an environmentally better choice that boasts exceptional thermal efficiency, helping to reduce heating costs up to 17% annually in comparison to PVC alternatives.
