A retrofit, renovation and extension in Aberdeenshire.

Designed by Brown & Brown Architects, the project was designed to provide a welcoming home for a young family returning to the UK after years abroad. Captivated by the site and its surrounding woodland from their very first visit, the family sought a space that embraced the natural beauty of its location.

The project

An award-winning project.

The architect's vision was to deliver a subtle and harmonious refurbishment, blending modern design with tradition.

Energy efficiency played an important role, making NorDan products the perfect fit for the project. Carefully positioned openings maximise solar gain, while an air-source heat pump provides efficient space heating.

The project has been rightfully recognised, earning two prestigious awards: the Aberdeen Society of Architects Award 2022 for Small Project and a Commendation for the Residential Award.
