A Window That Changed Everything
The story of StormGuard begins decades ago with the creation of the original NorDan Perfekt prototype, designed by Johannes and Kåre Rasmussen, grandfather and father of current NorDan Group MCO, Johannes Rasmussen.
At the heart of this design was a patented corner mechanism featuring an embedded half-ball bearing – an engineering innovation that would define the standard for long-term performance and innovation at NorDan.
In its first year, 700 units were produced and sold by Nils Rasmussen, who travelled across Norway to introduce the product. That momentum laid the groundwork for what would become one of NorDan’s most successful and recognisable product families.
Today, that early prototype has evolved into StormGuard - renowned for its robust weather resistance, energy efficiency, security credentials and low maintenance.
Now in the UK, this product is backed by an industry-leading 30-year warranty.
You know, born in 1961, I was lucky to grow up following the amazing success of the unique patented window first hand. My grandfather and founder
of NorDan, Johannes Rasmussen, constructed state-of-the-art machines for efficient industrial production. The combination of a brand new product
innovation and efficient production became a huge hit. I have always worked closely with customers, clients, and architects and have been involved in
numerous negotiations at home and abroad. Always trusted 100% in our core product.
I am really proud of our heritage and how our continuous focus on improving solutions makes it our strongest performing product. The way our unique
product is re-launched across NorDan territory, especially in the UK, is proof of the legacy playing a part, not only towards the 100-year celebration in
2026 but also for generations to come.

Revisiting Our Roots
With more than 8 million units sold it’s a flagship product. To mark this milestone, we were honoured to welcome Johannes Rasmussen to NorDan UK’s Livingston headquarters. Accompanied by our CEO, Craig Greenwood, Johannes reflected on the previous generation’s pioneering work and saw firsthand how the StormGuard legacy is being carried forward. Photographed together beside the StormGuard, the moment symbolised the bridge between NorDan’s proud past and its forward-looking future.
Sealed for the Future : StormGuard Time Capsule
On Wednesday 28th May 2025, a small piece of NorDan history was placed beneath the ground at our UK head office in Livingston.
Buried by NorDan Group CEO Dag Kroslid and UK Managing Director Craig Greenwood, this time capsule is more than a gesture. It’s a symbol of long-term thinking, of lasting partnerships, and the values that shape everything we do - Perfekt Samspill.
This engraved totem stands as both a distance waymarker to our Norwegian origins and a sentinel for the time capsule embedded at its base. Engraved upon, is the distance to Moi in Norway, where our StormGuard window is made. Surrounded by protective Norwegian junipers and Scottish heathers poised to grow - it now rests quietly, waiting to be opened in 2055.
The capsule marked the finale of our 30 Days of StormGuard campaign, celebrating the launch of our unique 30-year warranty on the StormGuard window. A fitting tribute to a product, and a company, built to last.

This may have been a small ceremony, but it reflects a big idea. It captures who we are today and what we believe in for the future. And like our products, we hope it stands the test of time.
