NorDan UK employees recognised for their contribution towards Group activity initiative, myPULS!
Today marks the beginning of the European Athletic Championships in Munich, Germany.
You may have already read about NorDan's long-running association with sport and sponsored athletes, one of which is its relationship with Team Ingebrigsten. Of course, you couldn't mention the European Athletics Championships without mentioning at least one member of Team Ingebrigsten.
On Thursday evening (18th August), Jakob Ingebrigtsen will be running in the 1500m men's final. The 1500m is an event where Jakob has established himself as one of the best in the world. An Olympic Gold medal in Tokyo in 2021 speaks for itself.
Jakob will be cheered on by an enthusiastic Munich crowd, a crowd that will include a team of NorDan employees and representatives. Amongst these employees will be NorDan UK team members Lisa Telfer (Customer Care Coordinator) and Megan Kemp (Logistics Coordinator).
Since May this year, Lisa and Megan have been, along with many employees across the NorDan Group, competing and keeping active through the NorDan myPULS app. myPULS was established as a voluntary initiative to encourage well-being for all employees and tracks their activity weekly.
Lisa and Megan's contributions have been recognised by the NorDan Group and both employees have been selected to attend the European Athletics Championships this week as a reward for their efforts.
myPULS is one of the only single initiatives that covers all NorDan employees across Europe and beyond. Through individual performance, enhanced by teamwork, employees can stay active and healthy all while being supported by their team members in their subsidiaries and knowing that like-minded colleagues in Norway, Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, and Lithuania are all doing the same.
Lisa said,
"I was so excited when I was told I had been selected for the trip. Even more so when I found out it was due to my efforts on myPULS – the perfect competition for me.
Luckily, I’m already active but a little competition gave me the drive to do more.
Running is my chosen sport, and I am a member of Kinross Road Runners and a huge fan of Eilish McColgan who happens to be competing in the 5000m woman's finals whilst I’m there. I look forward to cheering on Jakob Ingebrigtsen who is a superstar in the athletics field too. Part of the reason I chose to join NorDan 5 months ago was due to their values and inclusivity. The sponsorship of many different people in sport made it a company I would be proud to work for. The company values align with my own; healthy body, healthy mind!
Megan also added,
"I firstly would like to thank NorDan for this amazing opportunity to visit Munich and attend the European Athletics Championships. I am very excited to have been selected and look forward to cheering Jakob Ingebrigtsen on in the Final of the 1500m.
When first finding out about myPULS, it was promoted to encourage us to get more active outside the office and to also build relationships within the team. This appealed to me as I enjoy keeping active but also had the bonus of competition as I’m a very competitive person. In the Customer Service/Logistics team we had our own competition and each week we would report our weekly totals and we could see which days we had room to improve.
I also enjoyed the thought of the other NorDan teams outside the UK taking part. This felt like we were one team even with us all being in different countries.
Outside of work I was driven to keep track of my activity levels, pushing me to do more on days I was not as motivated."
Both Lisa and Megan will travel to Munich on Wednesday morning to meet up with colleagues and guests from NorDan subsidiaries across Europe to enjoy a few days of Perfekt Samspill both on and off the track!
