Ferry Lane Development
NorDan is delighted to have secured the £1.4million windows and doors contract on the new Ferry Lane residential development in Walthamstow North-East London. This development is currently one of the largest purpose-built rental developments in the UK.
The project is Legal & General’s flagship rental development and will regenerate the former Ferry Lane Industrial Site along Walthamstow’s High Maynard Reservoir, it is located near Blackhorse Road tube station, yet right next to the reservoir, which makes it ideal for London renters looking for a bit more greenery.
The development is being built to environmental standards, and once completed two hundred new trees and grass areas will be planted between the buildings and the reservoir, with the aim of creating an ecological corridor that protects local wildlife.
In total the 2,000 sq. m site will comprise of 440 residential apartments and houses across five buildings ranging in height from ten to 16 storeys. The complex will feature elevated pedestrian walkways, commercial and community space and specialist start-up business units.
Architects, Assael, have designed the development using best practice design principles from the Build to Rent sector. All of the studios, one, two and three-bedroom homes have a set of design features that makes them distinct from ‘for sale’ homes.
NorDan will be supplying aluminium clad timber fully reversible windows, sliding doors and balcony doors which have been manufactured to strict environmental standards, are highly energy efficient and can withstand harsh weather conditions.
