Hill Group Foundation 200 Project
In 2019, to mark their 20th year of business, The Hill Group set up Foundation 200 as an initiative to give back to the local areas where they operate, making a £12m pledge to build 200 meanwhile homes specifically for assisting homeless people to move on with their lives in safe, secure, purpose-built single dwellings. Having cultivated a collaborative working relationship with Hill over several years, we were proud to be given the opportunity to supply the window and door products to these new homes.
At NorDan UK, we have seen many successes over the past few years, so we acknowledge that it is increasingly important for us to give back to our local communities and help those in need. Collaboration is a core company value of ours and it is something that we are extremely proud of.
That’s why, when we were given the opportunity to assist Hill Partnerships in their mission to help the homeless this year, we were honoured to contribute to such a worthy cause.
In 2019, to mark their 20th year of business, The Hill Group set up Foundation 200 as an initiative to give back to the local areas where they operate. As part of this initiative, Foundation 200, made a £12m pledge to build 200 meanwhile homes specifically for assisting homeless people to move on with their lives in safe, secure, purpose-built single dwellings.
The 200 modular homes have been designed with the help of leading homelessness charities and stakeholder groups, with a minimum sixty-year life expectancy. They have been produced to an exceptionally high quality via offsite manufacturing methods and special care has been taken to ensure that every single detail has been considered, ranging from the furniture and fittings all the way to the cutlery. They have a considered layout, abundant natural light, and good storage. They provide dignity, independence and dramatically cut the costs associated with traditional temporary accommodation, with energy bills of just £5 per week.
Having cultivated a collaborative working relationship with Hill over several years, we were proud to be given the opportunity to supply the window and door products to these new homes. The durability and secure design of NorDan’s products ensures low maintenance and a long-life expectancy to complement that of the homes, with the exceptional U-values of our glazed products providing high energy efficiency for a warmer and more environmentally friendly home.
Emma Fletcher, Director of Foundation 200, said: “We are delighted by the generous support provided by NorDan. This has enabled us to have the very best products for the windows and doors, reflecting our Secure by Design principles for the homes. NorDan’s contribution has made a tangible difference and the first Foundation 200 homes are now providing a safe, secure place to live for former homeless people.”
The work that Hill is undertaking is absolutely invaluable to ensure that some of the most vulnerable people in the UK are given a second chance. This is especially crucial right now as 2020 has been an unexpected year for many throughout the country and there are very few people who haven’t felt the strain of the pandemic at some point.
We know that these new homes will make a significant difference to many peoples’ lives and being able to supply low-maintenance, long-lasting products means that the residents’ homes will be safe and secure for many years to come.
